Research Associate in Old Testament
Tyndale House is seeking to recruit a post-doctoral Research Associate for a 24 month post funded through the Museum of the Bible. The purpose of Tyndale House is to foster biblical scholarship in service of the church and the postholder is required to subscribe to the core beliefs and ethos of the charity.
The main activities of the post are:
1) Research on Tyndale House projects, especially
a. studying Old Testament personal names
b. the grammatical alignment of modern language Bible translations with the Hebrew text.
2) Editorial work on the Tyndale Bulletin
3) Development of the research profile of the postholder
4) Spiritual mentoring and involvement in the promotion of Christian scholarship
The postholder is expected to have
• a completed PhD in Old Testament or a closely related area
• an excellent knowledge of Classical Hebrew and ability to read Ugaritic, Old and Imperial Aramaic and transliterated Akkadian
• high reading competence in two of the following languages: French, German, Portuguese, Spanish, or Russian
• an excellent knowledge of Classical Hebrew and ability to read Ugaritic, Old and Imperial Aramaic and transliterated Akkadian
• high reading competence in two of the following languages: French, German, Portuguese, Spanish, or Russian
Salary: Competitive rates of pay apply
