Aim of this Position
The College is looking
for someone to help form and equip future ministers, both onsite and at
distance, by teaching Old Testament at
CertHE, FdA, BA and postgraduate levels. This will include Hebrew tuition and
exegesis, supervising postgraduate students in Old Testament, and, possibly,
New Testament modules.
Principal Accountabilities
1. To be responsible for delivering and
developing modules in Old Testament on the direction of the Principal and the Academic
Vice-Principal. Modules in other areas may also be prepared and taught where
appropriate.
2. To play a full part in the academic
administration of the College. Other commitments will include the interviewing
of new students and participation in recruitment activities.
3. To mark exams and essays and fulfil other
assessment requirements as directed by the Academic
Vice-Principal.
4. To take charge of a Fellowship Group and to
accept responsibility for the leadership of that group and the personal nurture
and encouragement of the students within it.
5. To participate in the life of the College in
every way possible, including attendance at chapel, leading services and
preaching as invited.
6. To research, write and publish in their field
where appropriate.
7. To participate in appropriate professional
development activities and to seek, through regular appraisals, to attain the
highest possible standards in teaching.
Person Description
The person appointed will:

Be committed to the evangelical ethos of Oak
Hill as set out in its Trust documents;
·
Possess, or be in the process of gaining, a
doctoral qualification in Old Testament;
·
Be committed to
both the pastoral and academic formation of students;
·
Demonstrate self-awareness regarding the dynamics of small team working
and shared community life, together with an ability to make a positive
contribution in both areas.
And ideally will:

Have research experience and a record of
publications in the field;
·
Be an ordained minister in the Church of England;
·
Have an appropriate experience of Christian
ministry and pastoral leadership;
·
Have the ability to teach outside Old Testament.
Remuneration
Remuneration and benefits are in line with the
Academic Staff Remuneration and Benefits Scale (‘Lichfield Scale’) as
determined by the Finance Panel of the Ministry Division of the Church of
England Archbishops’ Council. Total package £52,544 pa consisting of basic salary £24,912 pa and allowances
to the value of £27,632 pa (includes value of housing required for the post’s
pastoral responsibilities, pension to a non-contributory stakeholder scheme,
car and book allowances).

Kingham Hill Trust. The College is

contours. It is authorised to train ordinands for the Church of England. It also trains many students for evangelical
ministry in independent churches.
The College is an Associate College of Middlesex
University. Oak Hill is accredited by the University to validate its own
undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes.
There is a Genuine Occupational Requirement (GOR)
that the post-holder is a Christian. Regulation 7(2)a of the Employment
Equality (Religion or Belief) Regulations 2003 applies.
