Research posts in Bible and Antiquity in the 19th century

Applications are invited for one or two postdoctoral Research Associates to join the interdisciplinary, collaborative project entitled The Bible and Antiquity in 19th-century culture, located in the Centre for Research in Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities and funded by the European Research Council.
The project team consists of six post-doctoral Research Associates who work independently and in collaboration with each other and the directors of the project.
The post(s) is(are) available from 1 September 2015 to 31 May 2017.
Applicants should have research experience in any relevant field of nineteenth-century studies, including history, art history, classics, literary studies, history of archaeology, history of education, cultural history, history of scholarship, theological study, history of science. Applicants must describe how their research relates to the project and to any aspect of the five major themes of the project: the bible in and as history; the bible in and as fiction; the bible and its institutions; the material bible; archaeology and the bible.
In addition, each RA will be expected to have obtained a good first degree and a PhD in a relevant field of research, which will have been awarded before the start of employment; evidence of ability to engage in high-level research in an interdisciplinary context, with publications and participation in scholarly activity commensurate with stage of career; evidence of ability to present research findings to a scholarly audience and to a non-scholarly audience through various media.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 May 2017 in the first instance.
