Christ's College Teaching Fellowship in Practical Theology, University of Aberdeen

Job SummaryThe School of Divinity, History and Philosophy seeks to appoint a part time (70%) Teaching Fellow to the Christ’s College Teaching Fellowship in Practical Theology. The Fellow will develop and deliver high-quality teaching in the field of Practical Theology at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Practical Theology or related subject with particular expertise in one or more areas of the discipline. You will be able to develop and deliver courses at all levels of taught study as required within the current Practical Theology curriculum. You will liaise effectively with academic and support staff, and be competent to engage with the University’s practices of student monitoring, academic support, pastoral care, personal tutoring, new course development, public outreach, student retention and recruitment activities.

The School of Divinity, History and Philosophy continues to flourish as an established centre of excellence in the study of religion, biblical, theological, philosophical and historical studies. Its ambitions and achievements reflect one of the most vigorous research cultures within the University. Divinity and Religious Studies in Aberdeen continues to host one of the largest postgraduate populations within the University, and provides high quality undergraduate programmes within the University’s recent reformed curriculum.

Criteria•PhD in Practical Theology or related discipline
 •Demonstrated capacity to teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Practical Theology
 •Ability to become familiar with and utilise effectively administrative systems.
 •Excellent oral and written communication skills
 •Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
 •Ability to relate well to colleagues and students
